A world backstage

Thoughts and ideas about art on stage seen from a costume designers point of view

En ny begynnelse? October 25, 2010

School got to busy before summer, and I havn’t yet decided if this blog is dead or still alive. My master is finished, so it seems to go to an end for this blog as well.

Went to buy fabrics in Paris, and had some speare time to enjoy life. I think it’s a beautiful city, with all the small shops in the narrow streets, it feels warm.

Easter in Ireland, Donegal February 23, 2010

We spent our easter holiday in Ireland last year. We went with our friends and their friends to a small cottage in Donegal. Powerful nature and idyllic small villages. And one of the best easter holidays ever.

A walk at the graveyard February 22, 2010

The frost had just come, and covered the ground and the plants.

My breath sent clouds of smoke out in the air.

A small child left a mark.

Soon it would all be covered in snow.

This summer we spent a week in Risør, Norway. The weather wasn’t bad at all, you never know with Norway, we can have the best summers, or just cold and rainy. But I didn’t dare to swim, bacause of all the burning jelly fish. I hate burning jelly fish, but I love their look.

metal recycle place February 18, 2010

I’m cleaning up my pictures on my computer, and I find so many treasures. About a year ago one of our teachers aranged a small study trip to a metal recycle place in Oslo. The metal looks so smooth and soft! It felt like a treasure hunt, with all the “glitter and gold”. And it was so beautiful to see all the big piles of metal, but when I tried to touch it, I hurt myself…

Shunt money February 11, 2010

When I was in London I went to see two things on stage.

First I went to see a play at theNational theater, and it was quite boring. “Every good man deserves a favour”, very traditional, the audience laughed from the very first “slap-stick-comment”, and seemed to enjoy it alot. They had very cheap thickets so wasn’t total waste of time. It was nice to have been there.

The second thing I saw was Shunt “Money”, it was great! I loved it, the best theatre experience in a long time. I highly recommend everyone to go see it if you are in London. They involve the audience in a good way, and it’s just a wonderful experience to see and be a part of. You can reed some more about it here. Here you can see a funny episode from the process of making the show:

Botanisk hage i Oslo February 10, 2010

Fant mye inspirasjon i Victoria huset i botanisk hage i Oslo i høst. Veldig fin følelse å gå rundt der inne. Oss små mennesker blant alle de store plantene.

Found a lot of inspiration in the botanical garden in Oslo, in the exotic houses. Nice feeling to go around in there. The tiny people surrounded by all these huge, and small plants.

Went skiing in the mountains in December, with two of the girls I study with. Sjursjøen near Lillehammer. It was beautiful. Total relaxation. Good time to think.
